NEW YORK, N.Y. (AP) - Former University of Iowa basketball star Kate Martin has been drafted to the Women's National Basketball Association by the Las Vegas Aces. Martin, who traveled to the draft to support her teammate Caitlin Clark, was selected in the second round, making her the 43rd Hawkeye in program history to eclipse 1,000 career points.
During her collegiate career, Martin earned Second Team All-Big Ten honors from both the coaches and the media. She is known for her strong offensive and defensive skills, averaging 12.6 points and 6.7 rebounds per game during her senior season.
With the selection of Martin, the Las Vegas Aces add a versatile player to their roster. Martin's athleticism, hustle, and leadership will be assets to the team as they compete in the upcoming WNBA season.
